Privacy Policy
JumpStart Honors Precalculus ("we", "us", "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the rights you have over your information.
This service is offered exclusively to residents of the United States. If you are not located in the United States, please do not create an account or make a purchase.
1. Information we collect
We collect only the information needed to operate the service.
You provide directly:
- Email address and password when you create an account.
- Country of residence (used to confirm U.S. eligibility).
- Billing address and payment information when you make a purchase. Payment card details are submitted directly to our payment processor (Stripe) and are not stored on our servers.
We do not collect or store your date of birth. At signup, you confirm your age by checkbox; we do not retain the underlying value.
Collected automatically:
- Course progress (which sessions you have completed).
- PDF download events (which files you have downloaded, with timestamps).
- IP address, browser type, and basic device information for security and fraud prevention.
- Authentication session cookies (essential to keep you logged in).
- Marketing source: if you arrive via a URL with
utm_*or?code=parameters (e.g. a tagged social post or a referral link), we read those parameters and store them in a cookie so a later purchase can be attributed to the referring campaign or discount.
We use a privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics tool (Plausible) to measure aggregate pageviews and referral sources. We do not use advertising trackers, third-party marketing pixels, or cross-site tracking. See §3 (sub-processors) and §8 (cookies) for details.
2. How we use your information
We use your information to:
- Create and maintain your account.
- Deliver the course (videos, PDFs, progress tracking).
- Process your purchase, calculate sales tax, and issue receipts.
- Send transactional emails (account confirmation, password resets, purchase receipts).
- Send marketing emails (new courses or major announcements) only if you explicitly opt in at signup. You can change your preference at any time by emailing support@honorsprecalc.com.
- Detect and prevent abuse (bulk downloading, content sharing, fraudulent payments).
- Respond to support requests.
- Comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell or rent your personal information to anyone, ever. We do not use your information for behavioral advertising.
PDF watermarking. Each PDF you download is stamped at download time with your account email address and a short notice ("Licensed to your-email — do not redistribute"). The watermark is visible on every page. Its purpose is to deter unauthorized redistribution: if a downloaded file is shared publicly, the source account is identifiable. The watermark is applied only at the moment of download and is not stored separately from the PDF.
3. Service providers (sub-processors)
We use the following service providers to operate the service. Each is bound by their own privacy policy and data processing terms.

| Upstash (Redis) | Short-term abuse-prevention counters (rate limiting on sign-in, sign-up, password reset, and checkout). Stores IP + email pairs for up to 10 minutes per attempt, then auto-deletes. |
| Sentry | Server- and client-side error monitoring. Receives error stack traces and limited request metadata when something breaks. We have configured Sentry not to send user emails or IP addresses; any user identifier in an error report is an internal Supabase UUID, not personally identifying on its own. |
| Plausible | Privacy-friendly, cookieless web analytics. Records aggregate pageviews, referrer, country, browser, and device type. Does not use cookies, does not identify individual users, and does not enable cross-site tracking. |

These providers process your information solely on our behalf and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.
4. How long we keep your information
- Account information: retained for as long as your account is active. Deleted within 30 days of account deletion.
- Purchase records: retained for 7 years after purchase to comply with U.S. tax and accounting requirements.
- Course progress and download events: retained while your account is active. Deleted when your account is deleted.
- Email communications: retained for 2 years.
- IP and device logs: retained for 90 days.
5. Your rights
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) gives you the following rights. We extend these rights to all U.S. users regardless of state.
- Right to know what personal information we have collected about you.
- Right to delete the personal information we hold about you (subject to legal retention requirements).
- Right to correct inaccurate personal information.
- Right to data portability — receive a copy of your data in a portable format.
- Right to non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights.
To exercise any of these rights, email us at support@honorsprecalc.com. We will respond within 45 days. We will not charge you for exercising these rights.
You can also delete your account and export your data at any time from your Account page.
We do not sell or share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, so the right to opt out of sale or sharing does not apply.
6. Children's privacy
This service is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. Account holders must be at least 13 years of age. If you are between 13 and 17, you must have a parent or guardian's approval to use the service, which you confirm at signup.
If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child under 13, please contact us at support@honorsprecalc.com and we will delete it promptly.
7. Security
We protect your information with industry-standard security practices: encrypted connections (HTTPS) for all data in transit, encryption at rest in our database, scoped database access controls (row-level security), and limited employee access. No internet service can guarantee absolute security, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.
If we ever experience a data breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you and applicable authorities as required by law.
8. Cookies
We use only essential and operational first-party cookies:
- Authentication session cookies — keep you logged in.
- Promotion code cookie (
promo_code) — remembers a discount code you arrived with so it can be applied at checkout. 30-day expiry. - Marketing attribution cookie (
utm) — records the campaign tags from the URL you arrived from (utm_source,utm_medium,utm_campaign, etc.), so a later purchase can be linked to the source. 30-day expiry. First-party only; not shared with any third party.
We do not use advertising cookies, analytics cookies, or third-party tracking cookies. Our analytics provider (Plausible) is cookieless by design — it does not set any cookies in your browser and does not track you across sessions or sites. Because we use only essential cookies, no cookie consent banner is required under U.S. or California law.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent change. If we make material changes that affect how we use your personal information, we will notify you by email.
